Media blackout refers to an attempt by multiple mainstream media outlets to collectively refrain from reporting certain news events. Conservatives and libertarians often point to incidents regarding global warming, safety of foods and drugs, successes of minor political candidates such as Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann, Barack Obama's eligibility for President, illegal activities of Democrats and other liberals in public office and anything to do with the homosexual agenda (such as the Hamilton Square Baptist Church Riot[1]) and Islam (particularly when those who adhere to Islam are involved in criminal activity, such as in the United Kingdom[2]).
