In 2015, BLM was exposed as being a "movement for what it is: a racist and a violent hate group that promotes the execution of police officers". Reportedly, BLM's twitter feed contained photos of activists wearing shirts that say "Assata Taught Me" and that BLM invokes the words of the convicted cop killer Assata Shakur at "all its events".
