The Smiths were a rock band hailing from Manchester, England. The band consisted of guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke, drummer Mike Joyce, and singer Morrissey.

The Smiths were left-wing and were generally considered to be socialist.[1] However, Morrissey, the band’s frontman, has shifted to right-wing and anti-establishment viewpoints and supported Brexit and Nigel Farage.[2]

The Smiths broke up in 1987 and have not reunited since then.[3]
