Salt flats
Salt flats are undrained areas in closed basins in arid regions. In these areas, 10 to 75Â cm (4 to 30 in) of crystalline salt overlie stratified, very strongly saline sediment. The water table may be within 20Â cm (8Â in) of the surface at some period during the year.
