I am your basic refugee from Wikipedia's ideological wars. The specific issues that led to my ban are discussed in my Arbcom appeal. But perhaps I can present some larger lessons based on my experience. In a series of cases I am familiar with, Wikipedia has resolved persistent conflict between liberal and conservative editors by banning conservatives. Judging from my case, this policy may apply even the conflict is all about the liberal editor being malicious and unreasonable, the conservative editor is a top contributor, and the disputed material is apolitical. I should add that my ban is irregular in that it was done by a cabal of admins who must have coordinated off Wikipedia. The banning of someone with any significant amount of editing experience is normally done "by consensus", i.e. after public discussion.
