Christopher Scott "Chris" Kyle (April 8, 1974 – February 2, 2013) was a United States Navy SEAL having the most recorded kills (160) by a sniper in American history, with the actual number estimated to be even more, up to 255. His best-selling autobiography, American Sniper, was produced by Clint Eastwood as a wildly popular movie that was later snubbed by liberal Hollywood voters at the 2015 Academy Awards. Kyle was born, raised and lived in Texas, which honored him by officially declaring February 2, 2015, as "Chris Kyle Day."[1]

He served four times for the United States in Iraq, and was awarded two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars with Valor.[2]

On February 2, 2013, Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield were murdered by ex-Marine Eddie Ray Routh at a shooting range near Chalk Mountain, Texas. Routh was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
