Boudicca or Boadicea was a queen of the Iceni tribe in Celtic Britain, in the area now known as East Anglia. Following the death of her husband Prasutagus, the Iceni ruler, Boudicca was flogged on the orders of the new Roman Governor of Britain and her daughters were raped. Bioudicca launched upon a war, slaughtering four Roman legions and razing (burning) the Roman cities of Colchester (Camulodunum), St Albans (Verulamium) and Londinium. She killed every Roman citizen she found in the city and threw their heads into the Thames River. One of the skulls can be seen on display in the Museum of London. She is usually depicted riding a chariot with scythes attached to its wheels. Tacitus describes her sympathetically, stating thay she was terrifying of mein and that she had red hair.
