Corky Messner
Bryant “Corky” Messner (born November 15, 1956 (age 69)) is a veteran and businessman currently running for United States Senate in the 2020 elections from New Hampshire to challenge incumbent Democrat Jeanne Shaheen.
2020 U.S. Senate bid
Messner's bid has received the endorsements of Sen. Rand Paul[1] and President Trump.[2] The latter's endorsement that was several months prior to the Republican primary election sparked criticism from Messner's then-primary opponent Don Bolduc, who claimed that the primary was rigged against him.[3] Messner ultimately won the primary by a handy margin to face Shaheen in the general election;[4] Bolduc conceded,[5] though openly refused to endorse him for the general election.[6]
Political views
Messner is a libertarian-leaning conservative who is pro-life and has expressed support for bringing U.S. troops out of the Middle East.[7]
Controversies
Messner reportedly was accused of domestic violence in 2006.[8]
A criminal probe was briefly sought into a foundation run by Messner;[9] a third-party audit later found no wrongdoing.[10]
