NAACP

The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is an organization that was founded in 1909 to work for the rights and advancement of African Americans (then called "Colored"). The NAACP is the largest organization of its kind with 400,000 members.[Citation Needed] Through its history, the organization saw a number of changes occur for the group it represented, from the removal of Jim Crow laws, to the end of segregation, and to the implementation of affirmative action.
