Richard Cromwell (1626-1712) was the son of Oliver Cromwell and succeeded him as Lord Protector of England when he died in 1658 but was displaced by the restoration of the monarchy in 1660. He was known as "Tumbledown Dick". He has the minor disinction of being the longest-lived of all British sovereigns.
