Hemangioma

A Hemangioma is a benign soft tissue tumour of the blood vessels, occurring in infancy and childhood. The tumour presents as a painless blue or red nodule and is more frequent among females than males. It has a predeliction for the head and neck, albeit some hemangioma are tumours of the liver. Hemangiomas do not undergo malignant transformation and are treated through surgical excision. Hemangioma have the potential for intraperitoneal hemorrhage. Hemangioma, which are benign, can be contrasted with angiosarcoma, rare tumours of the blood vessels which are malignant.
