Margaret Sanger
Margaret Sanger (born September 14, 1879 and died September 6, 1966) founded what became Planned Parenthood[1] (then the American Birth Control League). She coined the term "birth control", publically discoursed for eugenics, the extermination of the African Race. In particular, she campained for eugenic controls to enforce what she called "race hygeine" (a plan to sterilize and marginalize American immigrant Slavs, Italians, Jews, and blacks), and was a member of the American Eugenics Society and the English Eugenics Society.[2][3][4]
Birth control activism
Margaret Sanger illegally opened the very first birth control clinic in the United States, in October 1916 in Brooklyn, New York. It was raided by the police, and shut down. Sanger was sentenced to 30 days imprisonment for distributing contraceptives, which was illegal in the United States at that time.
