The 2024 NATO Summit took place in Washington, D.C. on July 9 through July 11, 2024, on its 75th anniversary. The agenda was dominated by attempts to further entangle the U.S. in the NATO war in Ukraine.

In particular, escalatory actions such as the delivery of dozens of nuclear-capable F-16 fighters with the ability to strike deep in Russia will be a top priority of this summit, thereby putting the U.S. at risk of retaliation by Russia. Demands by Ukraine to be admitted into NATO, despite the objection by Hungary, will also be part of the agenda for this summit.

As NATO leaders meet in Washington this week, Ukraine’s future is hanging in the balance.

Despite vows by alliance leaders to keep arming Ukraine in its fight to fend off invading Russian forces, ...

A Trump victory in the November presidential election could mean a dramatic decline in U.S. aid to Ukraine and American political pressure on Kyiv to bow to Russian demands in any peace talks, Western officials say.[1]

The globalist Telegraph (UK) rag reported in advance of the summit that Ukraine dictator Volodymyr Zelensky would be told that Ukraine is "too corrupt" to join NATO.[2][3]

Outcome

As reported by Associated Press after the conclusion:

Although they stopped short of offering Ukraine an invitation to join, the allies affirmed that Ukraine is on an “irreversible path” to NATO membership and pledged to maintain a baseline of roughly $43 billion in annual support to Kyiv ....

There were new pledges of air defense support, including Patriot missile systems and F-16 fighter jets, as well as promises that individual security deals being signed by NATO members with Ukraine constitute a “bridge to NATO.” ... NATO agreed to start up a new program to provide reliable military aid and training to Ukraine and help it get ready to join the alliance. ... Zelenskyy ... emphatically pushed for the help to arrive faster and for restrictions to be lifted on the use of U.S. weapons to attack military targets inside Russia.

“If we want to win, if we want to prevail, if we want to save our country and to defend it, we need to lift all the limitations,” Zelenskyy said ....[4]

Lucas Leiroz, a member of the BRICS Journalists Association reported the joint statement announced NATO's intention to grant membership to countries in the Western Balkans region. It also stated that the Black Sea – a key region of Russia’s strategic environment – is one of NATO's points of greatest interest, suggesting that an expansion of maritime activities in that area may be about to happen.

The Western Balkans and the Black Sea regions are of strategic importance for the alliance [We promise to help] counter malign influence, including disinformation, hybrid, and cyber threats, posed by both state and non-state actors (…) NATO supports the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of interested countries in this region,” the statement reads.

Leiroz stated that expansion into the Black Sea could cause a serious crisis. NATO has been illegally providing intelligence and geolocation data to the Kiev regime through drones that are circulating in the Black Sea region. This data has been vital for Ukraine to plan terrorist attacks against fully demilitarized Russian cities, which is causing Moscow's patience to run out. If NATO decides to promote further expansion into the Black Sea, it is possible that the escalation of the conflict will reach a point of no return. China was also heavily targeted by NATO strategists during the event.[5]
