Prophecy of Ezekiel by Jacek Malczewski, 1919

Ezekiel was a prophet born in Jerusalem who lived in the 500s B.C. He was a contemporary of Jeremiah.

Ezekiel sought the spiritual improvement of the Hebrews. He disagreed that the Messiah would be a military ruler, and instead emphasized that the Messiah would more likely be a humble shepherd, as Christianity affirms. Ezekiel frequently criticized the unfaithful.

John frequently quoted the Book of Ezekiel in the Book of Revelation.
