My pastor recently gave more than one sermon on water baptism leading up to several people getting baptized.  He was adamant that people should get water baptised and that they would be being disobedient to God if they didn't. In short, if you don't get baptised and you have an opportunity to get baptised, then you have a bad attitude. But he did concede that the thief on the cross who repented did go to heaven without being water baptised of course.

Next, one of my favorite courses in college was Logic 101.  I also very much enjoyed the computer classes that I took also. And I could immediately tell that Dataclarifier was wrong about this matter: [https://www.gotquestions.org/baptism-Mark-16-16.html Does Mark 16:16 teach that baptism is necessary for salvation?].  The author of the article was correct when he wrote: In order for this verse to teach that baptism is necessary for salvation, a third statement would be necessary, viz., “He who believes and is not baptized will be condemned” or “He who is not baptized will be condemned.” But, of course, neither of these statements is found in the verse.

In addition, the Bible teaches that faith without works is dead (Epistle of James). In short, true faith will produce works. If you have faith, then you will want to get baptised and will get baptised. On the other hand, the Bible clearly teaches that one is saved by faith and not by works lest any man should boast (Paul's letter to the Ephesians).  This is such a simple concept. If you don't get it, it is because you don't want to get it.
