Ukraine has a Digital ID, one of the first to do so. Everything is online, you birth certificate, driver license, unemployment insurance, social security, etc. Ukraine#Digital_ID. RobSZ+ 21:41, June 16, 2022 (EDT)

While the intro paragraph might be accurate, I would suggest a bit less editorializing. I agree that digital IDs are a bad idea, but I think it would be more effective and helpful to our readers if we first just introduce what it is and how it functions, then get in to pros (yes, there are a few), and cons (which in my opinion are much more significant), and provide references to back it all up. Sure, there are hidden motivations for those in authority to push digital IDs, but some readers may not even be familiar with what one is. I would therefore suggest that we start there. --DavidB4 (TALK) 03:43, June 17, 2022 (EDT)
The basic idea is that your driver license will be on your phone - which seems inevitable at some point. That's a good place to begin. Eventually everyone will need to do electronic income tax filing, or make unemployment claims that way. Getting Obamacare and all that stuff is done online. So you need to begin with the basic idea of a birth certificate, social security number, and driver license, and build it from there (as long as the US still has some private medical insurers, the issue of medical records online should be dealt with last, which would probably need its own page anyway). RobSZ+ 03:57, June 17, 2022 (EDT)
The idea is, all your interactions with government will be done with a digital ID - even if you appeared in the DMV or Social Security office in person, they still would need your Digital ID number, probably a Q code off your phone. RobSZ+ 04:00, June 17, 2022 (EDT)
The editorializing can go in a separate ==Criticism== section. RobSZ+ 04:04, June 17, 2022 (EDT)

Right on. Excellent suggestions above by all means. Have in mind to clean up my recent changes including a better intro section with 2+ definitions and attempt to explain how 2 types of digital ID meet the defintion. Not sure if it could write easily, but I'd like to (without editorializing or 'giving them ideas') amplify the subtopics (ie privacy and access control) that directly concern civil liberties with examples. Newish here and not sure about free time yet.-- Fallandtrip (talk) 17:10, January 15, 2023 (EST)

Grateful for the community on this site. Requires tight combination of specialized knowledge of both the topic and how to layout in wikitext. Currently reading this book "Scanned" which is relevant. May be something I can cut out later but an email address for a throw-away account in case it could make sense to be reached by community. Global deployment section. links. Removed Background section. Let me know if new version sounds editorialized still. 👍 --Fallandtrip (talk) 21:20, January 16, 2023 (EST)

Article could benefit from simplicity. Took out most of my recent edits. Made a separate page for 'access control' (topic where I believe digital identity has most of its scandals). Im a noob so I might not yet have the best sense of how to link to AC or to the ukraine war subsection about digital ID. --Fallandtrip (talk) 00:13, January 18, 2023 (EST)

I don't necessarily think all of what you added then removed, doesn't have value being there. But perhaps it could be condensed and simplified a little. --DavidB4 (TALK) 00:38, January 18, 2023 (EST)
May roll these out gradually from backups.--Fallandtrip (talk) 14:49, January 21, 2023 (EST)

Definition section.. would like to use the word 'exclusive' somehow in referring to the 'single authoritative party' to better hint at the authoritarianism relative to current (multi-root) predecessor-trust models. But this notion may yet sound too editorialized. --Fallandtrip (talk) 14:47, January 21, 2023 (EST)

Not necessarily; maybe if you preface it with something like, "As of 2023, bla bla bla had exclusive..." to preempt future changes or criticism. RobSGive Peace a chance 16:43, January 21, 2023 (EST)
Cool--Fallandtrip (talk) 22:45, January 25, 2023 (EST)

Would like to add something somewhere along line of "[digital ID] also refers to a trend by governments toward withholding service in exchange for mandatory biometric data collection and authentication.".. citing below links. --Fallandtrip (talk) 22:45, January 25, 2023 (EST)

Would also like to find way of updating definition with something macrotrend-sounding like "Dig ID refers to a collection of trends: a small trend to consolidate commerce with politics(such as the links for frozen bank accounts), trend to remove your (stuff and) cards (decentralized methods of proving ID), a trend to replace them with (authoritarian need for centralizing) your most intimate data (biometrics)." Must be getting warmer . --Fallandtrip (talk) 23:07, January 25, 2023 (EST)

Might move (refactor?) stuff like a) this idea for alternate (critical) definition and b) all previous critical remarks into the 'Criticism' section over time. Downside with explaining stuff 'too well' is it might 'lock in' unwanted tyranny by 'giving the answers' (not that this writer is likely to have that kind of insight).--Fallandtrip (talk) 13:50, January 26, 2023 (EST)
Big update 4000ish units.. Did big chunk of that refactoring. Later I wish to expand on what is unique to other countries experiences. --Fallandtrip (talk) 15:44, January 26, 2023 (EST)

Feels like more work could be done. Would like to ... Simplify how it works, review recent reports, comment on Diia and Aadhaar, link to Pandemic Treaty, tighten the explanation of connections with SDGs. Good critical ideas are on Wikipedia's talk page. 👍🏼 --Fallandtrip (talk) 18:01, January 29, 2023 (EST)

Wikipedia's 'digital identity' page has had a large content warning message at the top as well as the section 'Digital rhetoric' for what looks like years.. talk page refers to their article as being a mess as well, looks like. Tbf Im a noob to wikis and digital ID as well. I like one of their talk page posts about identity being something attributed by one's society/environment rather than as 'a thing' one possesses. --Fallandtrip (talk) 18:14, January 30, 2023 (EST)

Felt urgent to get coverage of UK's digital identity situation...
Canada and Criticism sections are starting to get complex so I might soon move them to new pages with a condensed version left behind.
Not sure yet if there's a way of making one page inherit sets of links from another page.. Likely not a good idea.--Fallandtrip (talk) 18:20, January 30, 2023 (EST)

Would like to consider to start new sections perhaps for the following

  • Resources (books, reports, surveys, pdfs)
  • Deadlines coming up, by country (ie UK's march deadline and Canada has a DTB tender deadline in sept) --Fallandtrip (talk) 00:21, January 31, 2023 (EST)

Found interesting quotes today, while out looking for evidence for carbon tracking.

"Dr. Naomi Wolf, an author and Rhodes Scholar, predicted that the vaccine passport would eventually track every aspect of people’s lives and would violate the U.S. Constitution, the Americans With Disabilities Act, and HIPAA." from https://lc.org/newsroom/details/111722-world-leaders-agree-to-implement-vaccine-passports-1 from https://rwmalonemd.substack.com/p/global-news-a-global-passport-for?sd=pf
the quote could help a subsection of criticism: Potential laws/rights being violated. Mixed feelings about using Wolf as a source so this could be tedious.
Carbon stuff I wanted to use along with vaxpass stuff to plan a 'tutorial' section at the top that is more user-friendly and connects digital ID to familiars like the QR code apps.
The reader could use a shorter article as well with simpler explanations, so my plan would be to move the Canada and Criticisms to other pages but leave behind a paragraph of the key points--Fallandtrip (talk) 00:04, February 2, 2023 (EST)

Sadly I have become unemployed and mostly preoccupied with IRL. Please jump in at will, whomever feels inclined to take over. --Fallandtrip (talk) 20:15, February 3, 2023 (EST)

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope all goes well on that front! --DavidB4 (TALK) 21:39, February 4, 2023 (EST)

Must somehow get around to tidying this article. Could expand on the appeal of digital id, cbdc and biometics from many angles ie Star Trek, as well as improving criticism section but shorter and with links to focused subarticles. Had ideas about returning the size to be very short . Also wonder if there is a portal for community members on discord etc. Doesn't appear to be private messaging on this platform, perhaps a good thing. --Fallandtrip (talk) 14:33, May 2, 2023 (EDT)
