Was not her name Amalie Emmy Noether, meaning this page should be moved to "Emmy Noether"? --David B (TALK) 21:41, 21 July 2018 (EDT)
- You appear to be right. Should it be moved, or should we just create redirects? Her Wikipedia page's title is "Emmy Noether", but her first name clearly is "Amalie." --1990'sguy (talk) 21:54, 21 July 2018 (EDT)
- Yes, that is her name, but many places seem to refer to her by her middle name. Perhaps that was her preferred name? In any case, it ends with a "y" not an "i." If it was her preferred name, then we could move it. Or, we could move this to her full name, and redirect from Emmy Noether. --David B (TALK) 23:12, 21 July 2018 (EDT)
- Unless anyone has a better idea, I plan to move this page to her full name, Amalie Emmi Noether, and leave redirects from both of the other options. --David B (TALK) 23:01, 28 December 2018 (EST)
Everything name in her honour (and the list is long) is named "Emmy Noether": like the "Emmy Noether Mathematics Institute in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science" in Israel, the "Emmy Noether Campus" in Siegen/Germany etc.
More important: All her works are published under the name "Emmy Noether", since her first essay "Über die Bildung des Formensystems der ternären biquadtratischen Form", which is attributed to "Fräulein Emmy Noether in Erlangen".
So, the title of the article should be "Emmy Noether", and "Amalie Emmy Noether" should be the redirect. --AugustO (talk) 08:08, 9 January 2019 (EST)
- Just cut n paste it out and switch it with redirect. RobSDeep Six the Deep State! 11:37, 9 January 2019 (EST)
