Talk:Essay:Is America the new Sodom and Gomorrah?
Is this parody? I don't recall "congressmen deciding to approve gay unions." RobSFree Kyle! 13:25, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
This is a cute attempt at parody, however, let me explain the first glaring error in it. It is obvious the Essay is not written by an American.
- "congressmen, however, decided to punch these principles square in the face by approving gay unions".
- The U.S. Congress never voted on any such measure.
- gay marriage is legal by judicial activism.
- the writer doesn't understand the American federal system.
- nobody refers to state representatives, who did approve civil unions, as "congressmen".
So, before User:McClellan gets blocked and deleted, you are invited here to come and try to explain what this is. RobSFree Kyle! 13:40, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
- Unlike the UK Parliament, the U.S. Congress has no authority over local issues, such as filling potholes or writing marriage laws. RobSFree Kyle! 13:43, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
- So what we have here is prima facia evidence of foreign electoral interference. RobSFree Kyle! 13:47, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
Keep or delete
Keep
- Keep. I quote Andy Schlafly who is the owner of the website: "...I think there should be more leeway for strong editors to create essays and categorize them as they think best." and "The policy here has always been to give editors substantial leeway in what they post. The suggestion of a topic ban is interesting but we've never tried to limit editors like that, so it would be a substantial change in a nearly 20-year-old successful policy of letting a thousands flowers bloom, so to speak. Over time, the wheat inevitably separates from the chaff. Thanks for understanding." - Andy Schlafly (talk) 22:51, March 28, 2024 (EDT)" (See: Essay: 20 glorious years of essay writing freedom at Conservapedia). Remarks
I expected to vote delete, but I'm not so certain that's what I actually will do here. Essay space somewhat protects controversial viewpoints. This text does not as much seem to be a parody or troll article as a genuine one, at least to me. I could be deceived or naive, but I'm leaning towards a "keep" vote. If you read our many "homosexuality and"(TM) articles, and our main homosexuality article, you will see a similar sentiment. I would not make some of these same exact arguments myself, but I'm inclined to think they are being made in good faith. If we want to give this the boot, some other material will probably need to go as well. --DavidB4 (TALK) 15:09, 19 October 2020 (EDT)
- I think it's just parody intended to embarrass CP. RobSFree Kyle! 15:27, 19 October 2020 (EDT)
- Reason for changing my vote: This essay and the deletion notice originally was posted weeks before the 2020 election and appeared to be foreign election interference. But the pro-Sodomite coalition seized power anyway so deletion is a moot point now. RobSZelensky didn't kill himself 12:23, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
LGBTQ acceptance map by country
Below is a map of the degree of LGBTQ acceptance by country.
While the USA ranks #1 in the world in soft power for 3 straight years according to Brand Finance, there are places in the world that have a higher degree of buying into the homosexual agenda.
I hope this map is useful to User: Cazle. Conservative (talk) 08:04, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- The collective West apparently is winning the global culture war. Today's news ought to be helpful: Church attendance in the US has plummeted across all major Christian denominations. Catholics drop from 45% to 33%, Protestants from 48% to 44%, religiously unaffiliated rise to 26%. See also: Essay: How I found my American patriotism again and began to appreciate the West more.
- As the gays take over the planet led by the United States, thank God America will remain the leading power for the foreseeable future and no one will stand up for morality. RobSZelensky didn't kill himself 12:35, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- Thank God I live in America and not communist China which practices state atheism, monitors people's closely via camera's (including attendance at home churches), persecutes Christians, etc. And thank God I don't live in Russia which discriminates against non Russian Orthodox churches and has low church attendance. I went to church Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and I am going to church Holy Saturday and Easter too. No doubt this will assist me in remaining as straight as an arrow - just like Chuck Norris! - (ec) Hmm, notice the red arrows on this map from 2018 also signify countries that have not imposed Russian sanctions since 2022. RobSZelensky didn't kill himself 12:35, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- America does not practice state atheism or monitor people closely? That's news to me. RobSZelensky didn't kill himself 13:00, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
- According to Statista.com, as far as their views on homosexuality/LGBTQ, 40% of Russians are emotionally ambivalent; friendly; interested, or indicate that it is hard to say how they feel/think about homosexuality (See: Russian Attitudes Toward LGBT Persons in 2021 - Statista.com). If you look at man in the street interviews in Russia, there are a variety of people's views on homosexuality (See: What RUSSIANS think about LGBT? and What Russians think about LGBT? and Do you hate LGBT? 100 Russians). On the other hand, in 2016, openly homosexual men holding hands and walking through Russia in public laws do get pushback from some people (See: This is what it's like to be gay in Russia, The Independent, 2016).
- Futhermore, Islamic countries and Uganda are tougher than Russia on the homosexual agenda - Russia decriminalized homosexuality. Conservative (talk) 13:01, March 30, 2024 (EDT)
