Talk:Kyrsten Sinema

Even though her leaving the party won't affect her Seniority ranking in the Senate and ability to choose which committee(s) she wants to sit on (Senate rules on committee assignments are very different from the House), it will affect her ranking on those committees. Bernie Sanders, for example, as part the deal to caucus with the Democrats and vote for Schumer as Majority Leader (Sinema's vote may not be necessary for that, but it could enhance a deal on committees), Sanders was given chairmanship of some subcommittee - despite not being in the Majority party. Hence Sanders also was given assurances of having bills (or perhaps 'a bill') introduced on the floor. We'll see how sophisticated and independent minded this this young legislator is very shortly - or is she just trying to distance herself from Katie Hobbs and the corrupt Arizona Democrat party. She will be primaried, but she evidently believes she can garner enough GOP votes in a general election to marginalize a Democrat candidate and overcome a corrupt ballot box stuffing operation that favors Democrats.

It's either a stroke of genius on her part if she can get re-elected, or a suicide pact with the devil. RobSGive Peace a chance 13:56, December 9, 2022 (EST)

So the question ultimately is, Does she have her own political machine in Arizona independent of Maricopa county Democrats, beholden to her alone, and willing to stuff the ballot box for her? RobSGive Peace a chance 14:23, December 9, 2022 (EST)
