White Sands National Monument

White Sands National Monument
is a beautiful area in the high desert area of Tularosa Basin of New Mexico. The large dunes of gypsum based white sand [1] covers approximately 275 square miles of desert and at its highest point is about 4,000 feet in elevation.[2]

Since 1963, a part of White Sands has also been used by NASA as a testing facility.[3]
