Alan Keyes (born 1950) is an American conservative activist and pundit, and was a Republican candidate for president in 1988, 1992, and 2004. He has announced that he is also running in 2008 [1]. Keyes was also Barack Obama's opponent in the 2004 Illinois U.S. Senate race that Obama ended up winning.
During the Reagan administration, Keyes served as an ambassador to the United Nations. This position made him the highest ranking African-African in the Reagan administration.
