In Greek mythology Circe, was the daughter of the sun, and a sorceress known for her ability to turn men into animals. She was the daughter of Perse and Helios, and the mother of the sun-goddess Aega.
She is best known for turning Odysseus' men into pigs when they landed in Aeaea, and for poisoning Scylla, turning her from a nymph into a fearsome sea-monster.
Circe also used her powers of spiritual purification to purify the Argonauts after the murder of Apsyrtus. [1]
