Montgomery County, MD is the populous county in Maryland, having a population of slightly more than a million people due to the growth of the federal government. This borders Washington, DC to the northwest.[1] This county is named after the Revolutionary War General Richard Montgomery (1738-1775), who was born in Ireland and died while commanding Continental forces against Quebec.
