In baseball, a home run is a hit that allows the batter to circle all the bases. Home runs are usually achieved by hitting the ball beyond the field, but within fair territory. However, occasionally a batter who hits the ball inside the park will be able to make it all the way around the bases. Such a hit is called an inside-the-park home run.
