Bob Good is a former Liberty University employee and populist, anti-establishment Republican currently running for United States House of Representatives from Virginia's 5th congressional district in the 2020 elections.
According to The Hill, Good is a "far-right candidate".[2]
2020 U.S. House election in Virginia's 5th district
Republican convention
Good faced incumbent establishment-leaning Republican representative Denver Riggleman, who was elected in the 2018 Midterms with 53% of the vote.[3] This was after Riggleman had previously been censured by Virginia Republicans for "abandoning party principles",[4] pushed for the globalist-favored agenda of raising immigration levels,[5] and officiated a same-sex "wedding".[6] Endorsed by Sen. Ted Cruz,[7] Good won the convention in a surprise upset;[8] the overconfident Riggleman without clear evidence blamed his defeat on "voting irregularities and ballot stuffing", to which Good responded:
| That's what losers say.[9] |
Riggleman was previously accused by his House predecessor Tom Garrett of threatening him for supporting Good.[10]
Some compared Riggleman's surprise defeat to the ousting of then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the 2014 Midterms by Dave Brat;[11] both Good and Brat had won their respective primaries in major upsets despite being heavily outspent by their incumbent opponents.
After losing, Riggleman decided to contradict Donald Trump over QAnon, joining Democrat Tom Malinowski in introducing a resolution to condemn the anti-pedophilia group.[12]
General election
Good will face in the general election Democrat Cameron Webb, who win his party's primary with two-thirds of the votes cast.[13] Webb has justified calls to defund the police.[14]
