Alice Weidel

As of 2024, Alice Weidel is the leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) political party. Weidel has vowed to restart the Nordstream pipeline,[1] which was destroyed in an unprovoked attack by the United States in September 2022 on the orders of the Biden regime,[2] leading to a quadrupling of energy prices and de-industrialization of Germany by design.[3]

Weidel has become critical of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for Meloni's support of the undemocratically elected EU Commission's neoconservative president Ursula von der Leyen, and von der Leyen's plan to issue 500,000 work visas for migrants, Weidel views this as an attack on sovereignty and betrayal of conservative values.[4]

In January 2026, Weidel lauded President Trump for having the courage to seek peace, promised to join the Board of Peace, and demanded that Ukraine pay for the damage done to the German economy for the destruction of the Nordstream pipeline.[5][6]

2025 elections

Alice Weidel gained the lead for Chancellorship after the 2024 Christmas Market terror attack that killed 5 and injured hundreds. The Bundestag was dissolved and President Steinmeier called for new elections.

Weidel was asked if she also wants to use "hate and agitation like Donald Trump" in her political campaigns. Weidel responded saying that people were sick of the media, they didn't want to hear all the hate the media had for Donald Trump and that's why he won, and that people don't want to hear that woke garbage anymore.[7]

Elon Musk posted on X, "only the AfD can save Germany" and penned an op-ed in support of his position in Welt am Sonntag.[8] In January 2025 Musk interviewed Weidel on X.[9]

Weidel said in an interview with the Bild newspaper that AfD wants to establish "very good relations" with Russia. She also noted that she wants to achieve the lifting of sanctions against Russia, because they harm Germany, which has ceased to be competitive.

Foreign policy

In January 2026 Weidel stated:

“ For years, we've heard loud outcries about Putin violating international law. Now, these same critics have strangely fallen silent when Trump does exactly what they criticized Putin for doing: violating the sovereignty of Venezuela and Greenland. Double standards are clearly being used.[10] ”
