Graham Platner is a Democrat neo-Nazi and LGBT activist who is the 2026 Maine Democratic Party nominee for the United States Senate to unseat incumbent GOP Sen. Susan Collins. He is a combat veteran and oyster farmer who led the favored governor in the Democrat primary by such a large margin that she had to withdraw from the race and hand Platner the nomination. He is a populist progressive endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT), and apparently has a large grassroots following. Platner is campaigning against the "oligarchy" and ran an ad during a Boston Red Sox game complaining about how private equity has ruined the team.

Platner gained national attention after videos circulated online showing a chest tattoo depicting a Nazi SS ‘Totenkopf’ symbol. Democrat Rep. Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts warned Maine voters against supporting Platner. “It would be a mistake for the Democratic Party to think that Graham Platner’s brand of the Democratic Party is what wins us durable majorities throughout this country,” Auchincloss said, according to Yahoo News.

He responded in full opposition to the U.S. war on Iran by saying:

The people celebrating the bombing of Iran know nothing of the horrors of war. They’ve never watched a friend ripped apart by explosives. I cannot think of a more reprehensible act. I cannot think of a more unpatriotic act, of a more un-American act, than to send our sons and daughters off to die, to kill, to bring immense violence to innocent civilians abroad simply because you’re afraid you might lose the midterms.

”

n 2025, when asked about his unusual background compared with his views today, Platner quipped: "I read far too much Hemingway and that was probably unhealthy in hindsight."
