CENTCOM announced today on X that U.S. Air Forces Central (AFCENT) will be conducting a multi-day readiness exercise that could be used as a pretense to surge numerous other aircraft to the Middle East. Further bolstering U.S. firepower are newly arrived THAAD and Patriot missile batteries for air defense and four British Eurofighter Typhoon jets now in Qatar. As Adm. Stavridis said, the gathered forces give “the president a lot of military capability and options” but there would still be risk should the U.S. decide to launch an attack. Analysts warns that Iranian drone swarms could threaten U.S. naval vessels, and both the Houthis and Kataib Hezbollah have pledged to join Iran in the event of war, with the latter group posting videos on social media dozens of fighters sworn to become suicide bombers.
