This Essay is absolute deceptive idiocy. Russia and Saudi Arabia are net exporters of oil, the US barely produces 50% of its own domestic consumption. And it still relies heavily on oil export countries. RobSZelensky didn't kill himself 09:09, February 5, 2024 (EST)

Oilprice.com:

"U.S. crude production is headed for a record 13.8 million bpd in 2026, yet the EIA expects distillate stocks to fall below 100 million barrels and stay under the five-year range through much of 2027.
Refiners can’t simply make more diesel. Distillate is about 30% of U.S. refinery yield, utilization averaged roughly 96% last quarter, and operable capacity fell about 250,000 bpd from a year earlier."

I trust this clarifies matters. Foghorn LeghornDo normal heterosexuals spend 20 yrs obsessing over gay bars, bathhouses and drag queens? 12:23, October 10, 2026 (EDT)

It clarifies the fact that you don't know the difference between oil production and diesel production. Conservative (talk)
It clarifies the fact you don't know that diesel comes from crude oil distillates.

Middle distillates compete with each other for production of diesel or jet fuel.
This even relates to the fact that you don't understand the guns or butter argument. Diesel and military jet fuel come from the same limited supply of crude oil middle distillates. Military jet fuel obviously has priority. Trump tried to have guns & butter when he started the Iran war - jet fuel and diesel. Only to later reveal himself as foreign agent of Russia, funneling $5 billion to the evil Russian war machine so it can continue its unjust war of aggression. By the way, Trump and Putin just made a deal: President Donald Trump announced a deal with Vladimir Putin where Russia will supply over 4 million tons of diesel to the global market. In tandem, the U.S. Treasury Department temporarily waived sanctions on Russian diesel through April 2027 to lower skyrocketing fuel prices.
In addition, Iran's economy is a mess and getting worse due to naval blockade and stricter sanctions. Will the Iranians become more pliable in negotiations or see their regime collapse? Time will tell. Conservative (talk) 14:01, October 10, 2026 (EDT)

The Power of U.S. Oil Production

"A foundational pillar of America’s relative strength over the last five years is its unprecedented energy revolution. The U.S. has firmly cemented its position as the largest oil producer in global history.

• Record-Breaking Output: According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), U.S. crude oil production is on track to average a record 13.8 million barrels per day (b/d) in 2026, surpassing the previous historic record of 13.7 million b/d set in 2025.

• Geopolitical Insulation: This massive output—driven primarily by fracking and efficiency gains in the Permian Basin of Texas and New Mexico—means the U.S. produces roughly 18.4% of the world’s total oil supply.

• The Geopolitical Offset: While the U.S. is still tethered to global market prices because it is also the world's largest consumer, its massive supply acts as a vital geopolitical buffer. When conflicts in the Middle East threaten global energy hubs, or when the West cuts off Russian energy exports, surging U.S. oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports step in to stabilize allied economies (particularly in Europe), weakening the ability of OPEC, Russia, or Iran to use energy as an economic weapon."[2]

Why then is the US spending $5 Billion to import Russian diesel and support the Russian war machine?

Answer the dang question:

Why then is the US spending $5 Billion to support the Russian war machine?

Using big font doesn't make the question less crazier. The US is temporarily spending money for Russian diesel because temperarily it is in short supply [sic] (See Essay: The USA is outproducing Russia and Saudi Arabia in oil production. The best is yet to come). Trump puts US interests ahead of Ukrainian interests. But the rest of the tougher sanctions on Russia signed by Trump are still in effect. The European Union (EU) is collectively one of the largest and most important trading partners of the United States.
With that being said, the Russo-Ukraine War is bad for Russia economically and demographically. It is a war of attrition boondoggle and quagmire. Conservative (talk) 11:31, October 11, 2026 (EDT)
OK, let me get this straight: The USA is in short supply of diesel because of Trump's unpopular war against Iran (despite the fact the USA is outproducing Russia and Saudi Arabia in oil production. The best is yet to come); waiving the Lindsay Graham Sanctions Bill that imposes 100% tariffs on purchasers of Russian oil that Trump just signed comes at a time when Russia needs the cash and the Kyiv regime is flat on its back and may not survive the winter until April 2027 when Russian sanctions relief expire.

You are fooling yourself. The EU will reluctantly keep funding Ukraine while also continuing to build up their militaries. Germany is a great example of a country that is taking these courses of actions. The are lots of signs that the Europeans will do so based on their past recent actions (February 2026: The European Union has approved a massive €90 billion loan that strengthens Ukraine while tightening the vise on Vladimir Putin [3]). They might confiscate the Russian frozen assets too. Conservative (talk) 12:00, October 11, 2026 (EDT)

duh, the EU doesn't have the funds to "keep funding Ukraine". They had to loot Rusasian assets for €90 billion loan.

RobSmith, you're treating a temporary American sanctions waiver as though it determines the outcome of the entire Russo-Ukrainian war. But Europe has its own strategic interests, financing mechanisms, and military expansion plans. Germany and other European governments can continue supporting Ukraine even when Washington changes course.

The relevant question is whether European financial and military assistance, combined with Ukraine's own capabilities, will be sufficient to sustain the war effort. A temporary Russian diesel revenue increase does not answer that question, nor does it establish that Ukraine will collapse by April 2027.

If you believe Ukraine will not survive the winter, identify the specific military, financial, and political developments that make that outcome likely and provide excellent evidence. Predictions require evidence, not confidence.

With that being said, whatever happens in Ukraine, the USA will be the leading power for the foreseeable future. Ukraine is not a major trading partner of the usa. And the usa still has two very large oceans on its West/East coasts and Canada/Mexico are unlikely to launch special military operations against the usa. Conservative (talk) 12:20, October 11, 2026 (EDT) Postscript: If Russia has such a powerful military, why has big Russia been bogged down in a war of attrition against little Ukraine for more than four years? Shouldn't a great military power have achieved its objectives by now? Conservative (talk) 12:27, October 11, 2026 (EDT)
