Asteroid Belt

The Asteroid Belt is a large toroidal (doughnut-shaped) region in the inner Solar system with a heliocentric distance of between 2 and 4 astronomical units containing nearly two million minor planets [1], or asteroids rather than a major rocky body like the Earth or Mars.
