James Madison

Federalist No. 43, authored by James Madison under the pen name Publius, is the forty third of 85 essays. Titled "The Same Subject Continued: The Powers Conferred by the Constitution Further Considered", Madison writes about the topics of treason and copyright, and what is referred to by some as the District Clause or the Enclave Clause of the Constitution.

It was published on January 23, 1788.
