Max Blumenthal (born December 18, 1977) is an American author, journalist, blogger, and YouTube personality.
Career
In September 2013, Blumenthal reported for The Nation from the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan on the conditions in which Syrian refugees were living.[1] He wrote of being "staunchly against US strikes, mainly because I believe they could exacerbate an already horrific situation without altering the political reality in any meaningful way". The refugees in Zaatari deserved to be heard and commented in the article: "there was not one person I spoke to in Zaatari who did not demand US military intervention at the earliest possible moment."
Following a December 2015 trip, Blumenthal said the White Helmets in the Syrian War were connected to Al-Qaeda and anti-Assad Syrians were members of the group. In his opinion, the group was "driven by a pro-interventionist agenda conceived by the Western governments and public relations groups that back them" and were being used as a Trojan horse, an excuse for the United States to propose having "70,000 American servicemen" invade Syria.[2]
Blumenthal eventually was fired by Libyan war criminal Hillary Clinton[3] and Nordstream terror attack mastermind Jake Sullivan[4] for comments Blumenthal made upon the death of Elie Wiesel.[5][6]
Blumenthal implied in an October 2016 article that the White Helmets in Syria were involved in a "false flag conspiracy" to claim a UN convoy to rebel-held Aleppo had been bombed by the Syrian and Russian military. Charles Davis in an article for New Politics magazine wrote: "In fact, a White Helmet's member was among the first civilians to appear on camera at the scene of the attack, declaring in English that 'the regime helicopters targeted this place with four barrel [bombs]'." Blumenthal said the account provided by the White Helmets "remains unconfirmed by both the UN and SARC, and no evidence of barrel bombs has been produced". The UN later concluded their convoy had been hit by barrel bombs dropped by a Syrian regime helicopter.
Charles Davis stated that The Grayzone published an article by Blumenthal and Benjamin Norton which cast doubt on the Syrian government's responsibility for the 2017 Khan Shaykhun chemical attack. Blumenthal and Norton cited a report by Seymour Hersh which said sarin was not used in the attack.
In November 2017, Blumenthal discussed the decision of the United States Department of Justice to classify RT as a "foreign agent" in an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News. He told Carlson: "I go on RT fairly regularly, and the reason I do so is because, while the three major cable networks are promoting bombing and sanctioning half the world, at least the non-compliant nations, RT is questioning that."[7]
Criticism
One of his more infamous activities was his doing the third wave of attacks on the creators of the docudrama The Path to 9/11, where he proceeded to use innuendo and hearsay to demonize them due to part 1 of the miniseries having criticisms against the Clintons.
Blumenthal, in spite of his Jewish heritage, has a history of anti-Zionist diatribes which notably received extolling praise from white supremacist David Duke.[8][9][10][11]
He also claimed that the sniper and war hero Chris Kyle was a "popular mass murderer."[12]
Blumenthal has been criticized for his anti-Zionist views by some Jewish activists.[13] Some people allege he is a "new antisemitism denier."[14]
Iran backed fringe Grayzone
Max Blumenthal's Grayzone - Far-left[15][16] fringe propagating disinformation, such as on Syria[17] and on China.[18] It was exposed having ties to the Islamic Republic of Iran.[19][20] A shill for the Iranian regime.[21] It's pro Hamas terror org. and has a history of lying,[22] pushing conspiracy theories on Israel. Even anti-Israel Haaretz exposed:
“ | Max Blumenthal's Lies About Israel and October 7
The Grayzone editor has a history of denying war crimes, so it's no surprise he provided a piece that very selectively uses facts, includes purposely edited quotes to change their meaning and grossly plays down the atrocities against Israelis.[23] |

On Syria:
'Blumenthal and other writers at Grayzone have also been exposed accepting “journalism prizes” from pro-Assad lobby.'
“ | Max Blumenthal got his start writing about Syria in 2011, where he was staunchly on the side of rebels against Assad. He spoke passionately of atrocities committed by the Assad regime, even resigning from a Beirut paper in 2012 because he claimed they were “Assad apologists”, who “paid me pathetically, barely enough to pay rent in my New York apartment.”
He even goes so far as to say that some of his colleagues in Syria were so caught up in “Anti-Imperialism” that they found themselves in the warped position of defending Assad, whom he viewed as a murderer. He was accompanied in this endeavor by his mustachioed Brooklyn hipster side-kick Ben Norton, who, unlike Max, dispensed his Syria expertise via internet from New York. It’s unclear what qualifications Norton possessed at the time however, other than a willingness to follow Max’s every editorial lead, a bitchin’ one-man noise band, and the sweetest chinstrap in Williamsburg, but he was on board, and he was vehemently anti-Assad. Suddenly, in 2015 Max and his pet mustachio flipped sides. It just so happens that they became pro-Assad...[24] |

The Grayzone has followed a similar path on Syria, challenging reports of atrocities by the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. ...Based on a desire for a multipolar world, in which global military, cultural and economic power is distributed among multiple nation states and Western influence greatly diminished, they have been quick to argue on behalf of authoritarian regimes such as China and Syria...
