Hubert H. Humphrey (1911 - 1978) was Vice President under Lyndon Johnson from 1965 to 1969. When Johnson decided not to even run in the 1968 election, he decided to enter the race (after Bob Kennedy was shot.) He lost to Republican candidate and former Vice President, Richard Nixon.
