[[Diogenes]] of Sinope was the most famous Cynic. In contemporary terms, however, cynicism generally refers to having a very low opinion of a group of people or action, and often doing bad things or even openly encouraging bad behavior simply because of their low opinion. Liberals have been more notorious for this sort of action, such as [[Barack Obama ]] openly encouraging illegal immigrants to vote in the 2016 presidential elections(even though, by United States law, illegal immigrants are not allowed to vote in US elections due to not being US citizens).
