The Trump Administration took actions against Iran and continued taking a tough stance against the country.[2]
- January 3, 2020—President Trump ordered an airstrike in Baghdad that killed prominent Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, who led the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Quds Force.[3] Soleimani's death was a significant setback for Iran,[4] and President Trump strongly defended his action[5] along with other administration officials.[6]
