Jeremiah is a book in the Old Testament. The author, the prophet Jeremiah, was a tormented prophet who often spoke of the coming destruction of Jerusalem. Some have stated that this book has more insight into a prophet's life than any other Biblical book of prophecy.[1] The book of Lamentations serves as a companion book.

This Book contains one of the most pro-life verses in the Bible, at Jeremiah 1:5 :

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

and before you were born I consecrated you;

I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

This Book contains a prophecy of the new covenant by God, at Jeremiah 31:31 .
