Political correctness has significantly influenced comedy, almost invariably to a negative degree due to the fact that modern politically correct leftists have no sense of humor and no understanding of comedy.

Several comedians have been punished or attacked for being politically incorrect.[1] College students and staff have advocated against hosting politically incorrect comedians, and have advised the comedians they host only to use politically correct humor.[2]

Mainstream conservative Steven Crowder faced severe YouTube censorship[3] for lampooning[4] homosexual Vox Media "journalist" Carlos Maza's unfounded claim[5] that, as Crowder put it, "conservatives control the media", while a large number of other conservative YouTube accounts, also caught in the resulting firestorm, were also censored and, in many cases, demonetized and/or deplatformed altogether. This was referred to as the "Adpocalypse," occurring at the behest of Maza in 2019 and subsequently resulting in a massive Internet backlash against Maza for both his actions and his refusal to take responsibility for them or to take the matter seriously, culminating in his being fired from Vox Media in August 2019. Currently, it is politically incorrect to criticize Communist China. Notorious YouTuber PewDiePie has commented on this[13] (which got him banned in China).[14] So have libertarians Trey Parker and Matt Stone, through their animated series South Park. They released an episode entitled, "Band in China," which criticized the Communist Chinese government and those who attempt to appease it, and which, ironically, caused the entire series to be banned in China[15] (see Essay:South Park Is Back!).

Conservative ventriloquist and stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham was once censored in Malaysia for his puppet which resembles an Islamic terrorist.[16]
