Do you mean to say Russia was not a constituent of the USSR? Or that the Russian Federation as constituted in 1993 (IIRC) is not the successor to the Russian Soviet Federated Social Republic?--All Fish Welcome 00:23, 10 May 2007 (EDT)

Russian Federation is its name today (unless the Vladimar Putin, as the article says, heads a defunct state). It was alwasy refered to as the Russian Federation even in Soviet times, although its formal name was Russian Soviet Federated Social Republic (or something like that). RobS 00:31, 10 May 2007 (EDT)

Reversion of Edit

I accept the reversion of the previous edit by CharlesACE if it was actually stolen from another source, without said source being credited for it. However, not all of the changes were unwelcome. The GDP data are outdated; according to the CIA world factbook, Russian GDP for 2009 was 1.2 trillion (at the official exchange rate) or 2.1 trillion (purchasing power parity). GDP per capita, in PPP, was 15,100$. The estimated nuclear force, however, should not be 15,000 warheads, but much lower than that; on May 13th, 2010, Russia was reportedly considering revealing its nuclear stockpile data. Until it does, I suggest not inserting any actual number to this article. Finally, I'm for removing the "one of" in the industry paragraph: I don't see any other former Soviet Republic which could compete with Russia in industrialization, and I think Russia can safely be considered the most industrialized ex-Soviet state. Would it be ok if I made the suggested changes to the article, without reinserting the apparently stolen "History" section? --MarcoT 12:10, 12 June 2010 (EDT)

Russia in the Categories of Category:Liberalism and Category:Man-made Disasters

Why is Russia a Man-made disaster and how is it related to Liberalism?--JoeyJ 14:48, 23 January 2015 (EST)

From 1917 Revolution to 1991 Russia was the #1 location on the planet directly associated with the most liberal "experiment" in liberalism -- communism. That is 74 years of massive liberalism. "Old habits die hard" (or as one friend said "Old habits hardly die"), so one cannot call Russia a "conservative country" yet despite them now perhaps being (according to the CP article): "Increasingly Christian and conservative, Russia opposes the homosexual agenda and is passing laws to reduce its numbers of abortion. Russia has repudiated its unsuccessful foray into communism, which harmed the nation from 1918-1991." Joel Skousen and his father Cleon Skousen (author of the former Best Seller The Naked Communist - still appropriate today) are very skeptical of Russia's supposed "transformation" and Russia Today's strange propaganda "courting"/attracting of American conservatives.

As I put on the description of the Category:Man-made Disasters:

"Broad category includes all sorts of man-made threats / disasters, such as war, terrorism, nuclear war, biological war, chemical war, pollution, environmental problem, economic collapse, hyperinflation, stock market crash, large-scale tyranny such as for instance Russia's 74 years of communism-socialism-police state, mass murder, genocide, German National Socialism's holocaust, etc."

Russia's 74 year liberalism "experiment" cost more American lives and money than any other man-made disaster or Category:Natural Disasters in the history of the USA. It wasn't an "Act of God", but was definitely "man-made" by the Russians themselves and lots of liberals including ones in Europe and the USA who supported both directly and indirectly the Russia experiment in income redistribution.

Thus, I just moved from Russia to Soviet Union the tag I added of Category:Liberalism and Category:Man-made Disasters. Thanks for asking. TheAmericanRedoubt 15:23, 23 January 2015 (EST)
