Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke "Kemi" Badenoch (b. 1980 in Wimbledon, Surrey) is a British centre-right politician, who has served as Leader of the Opposition and leader of the Tory Party since November 2024. Kemi Badnoch has been a Member of Parliament since 2017; serving Saffron Walden from 2017 to 2024 and, following redistricting, the successor constituency North West Essex since 2024. She succeeded Angela Rayner as Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government following the 2024 UK general election in which Labour ended 14 years of Tory government with the lowest share of the vote for a victorious party on record. She served in the Sunak ministry from 2023 to 2024 as Secretary of State for Business and Trade, and from 2022 to 2024 as Minister for Women and Equalities. She was also President of the Board of Trade from 2022 to 2024, serving under Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak.
A supporter of Brexit, Badenoch served in Boris Johnson's cabinet and resigned after Johnson sabotaged the Istanbul peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine in protest of his leadership.
Badenoch has run two Tory leadership campaigns. The first was in summer 2022, following the resignation of Boris Johnson as Tory leader and Prime Minister. Her bid to replace the incompetent globalist Rishi Sunak was announced on 28 July 2024, after the 2024 UK general election. As of the final round of voting, she is one of two remaining candidates in the 2024 Tory leadership election, the other being Robert Jenrick.[1] Badenoch formally became leader of the Tory Party, and Leader of the Opposition, on 2 November 2024.
Kemi Badenoch, who is of Nigerian Yoruba descent, has been the recipient of considerable abuse from hypocrites and racists on the far-left. The SJW actor David Tennant effectively placed a deathwish on Badenoch for her view that woke gender ideology shouldn't be taught in schools.[2]
Views
Kemi Badenoch was described by Breitbart in 2022 as an "actual conservative", in reference to the generally centre-left globalist positions the modern Tory Party takes on most issues. Breitbart reported that Badenoch, who has slammed the anti-white racist critical race conspiracy theory and the far-left terrorists of Black Lives Matter, had been praised by the right-wing commentator Calvin Robinson for her support for the free market, limited government and family values.[3] Describing her decision to join the Tory party, Badenoch has said "living in a liberal, free democracy and seeing what stops a country from working made me very centre-Right. The Conservative Party was the natural party for me to join." Her Nigerian Yoruba background and experience as a student at Sussex University also shaped her outlook; claiming that white left-wing students talking about "an Africa of which they know nothing" instinctively made her feel "these are not my people".[4] Kemi Badenoch has same stances as her party for war in Ukraine and want to continue fund Ukraine until they get victory against Russia as she said.[5]
Personal life
Kemi Badenoch describes herself as agnostic with cultural Christian values.
