Literature and the Bible includes many references in great literature on the Bible, and use of biblical themes. The growing list includes:

• Moby Dick, called the greatest American novel, names its characters after biblical figures and repeatedly borrows from the Bible throughout the novel.^[1] The biblical allusions are so extensive that much as been written aboout this.^[2]
