Paul Embery is a British firefighter, trade unionist, author and political commentator. Paul Embery is a socialist who has been a member of the left-wing Labour Party since 1994, but he has called out the modern left for their violence, political correctness and hatred of working-class people. He also supported the withdrawal of the UK from the globalist European Union.

Embery is a member of the Blue Labour movement, which supports cultural conservatism within a democratic socialist Labour Party. He has hosted The Political Correction, a segment on the right-leaning UK television channel GB News.[1]

History

In March 2019, Paul Embery spoke at a rally for pro-Brexit group Leave Means Leave. He was consequently dismissed from his position in the Fire Brigades Union, for a violation of their anti-Brexit policy. It was ruled in 2021 that Embery has been unfairly dismissed.

Embrey's book Despised: Why the Modern Left Loathes the Working Class was published in 2022. The book calls out the 21st century left for their opposition to patriotism, family, faith and other working-class values.

Views

Embery largely supports left-wing economic views alongside some conservative social and cultural views.

Embery opposes Donald Trump, calling the conservative US President an "appalling human being" in November 2020 and an "oaf" that April. However, he also called out the actions of left-wing thugs in 2019 who assaulted an elderly Trump supporter.[2] He also called out the Fake News narrative that claimed Trump advocated injecting bleach to cure COVID-19.[3]

Embrey has spoken out against trans ideology and reiterated a point by Brendan O'Neill that the trans agenda meant that "the entire physical, social and scientific world must be sacrificed to the therapeutic needs of men who think they’re women".[4]

In 2017, Embery described the idea that abortion is a "human right" as "ludicrous in the extreme".[5]

In March 2018, Embery commented that the US Second Amendment seemed an "attractive" defence against a future totalitarian state and the thought policing of the Metropolitan Police.[6]
