Nazi Germany suffered more deaths from 1944 to May 1945 than in the previous four and a half years.

Gen. Ben Hodges (b. 1958) is a controversial retired commander of the United States Army in Europe. Hodges works as a lobbyist at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA), a Washington, D.C. and Warsaw-based pressure group that promotes the agenda of the military-industrial complex in Eastern Europe. Hodges opposed Brexit because it "could threaten NATO."[1] Hodges has been criticized internationally as a warmonger.[2]

Hodges attracted disgust and condemnation in 2021 for suggesting that widely recognized figures surrounding World War II casualties are false.[3]

Hodges is a critic of US President Donald Trump[4] who supported Joe Biden and the Biden foreign policy in the 2020 presidential election.[5]

Russophobia and holocaust denial

In a 2021 Zoom call as part of the 12th annual US-Ukraine Security Dialogue, a conference organized by the Center for US-Ukrainian Relations, a lobbying group accused by some of having ties to the neo-Nazi OUN-B, an offshoot of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, he suggested no Russians died in the Second World War. There are no respected academics that support Hodges' Russophobic assertion that 27 million Russians did not die, and he received no pushback from the other speakers taking part in the talk. Russian expert Andrei Martynov remarked,[6]

"Hodges is a graduate of the USMA [United States Military Academy] in West Point and of the Army War College, he also had under his command serious forces in Europe. So, it is reasonable to ask the question--who and how taught Ben Hodges military history, a mandatory subject in any military academy in the world, that this guy not only blatantly lies but parades himself as a jackass?

"The answer to this is very simple: apart from being a paid shill for Banderite (crypto-Nazi) lobby in the US, Ben Hodges is butt-hurt with the needle of his "soul" (or complexes) protruding from his behind because he himself knows damn well that on the scale of military accomplishments he is nothing but a loser despite his senior general level officer paraphernalia

"This is the level of the modern American "elites" and it is too bad that Ben Hodges just happened to be a man who wore the officer uniform. These "elites" will lie, they will cheat they will steal. It is one thing when this activity is performed by spies and politicians--one would expect this from them. It is totally another when a former very high rank American officer loses any sense of professionalism, honor and propriety, let alone of elementary respect for tens of millions of Russian people, civilians and soldiers alike, who went through hell, which Ben Hodges cannot even grasp, to defeat the deadliest enemy in history. Leningrad alone lost more people from 1941 through 1944 than the United States lost throughout its whole military history combined. One cannot compensate for the lack of class which Ben Hodges, once one reviews the history of his statements, never had to start with."

NATO war in Ukraine

Hodges has been criticized for encouraging Ukraine to adopt the methods Nazi Germany used in 1944 to prolong a losing war with the Soviet Union.[7] In October 1944, when Germany called up all men aged 14 to 65 years and some volunteer groups of women, Germany's resource potential and talented elite, ambitious personnel had already been killed, and Ukraine was also experiencing this by 2023. It should not be forgotten that from September 1939 to July 1944, Germany lost 3.5 million soldiers, and the next 10 months formed the bloodiest and most cataclysmic years of World War II by far. Hodges argued,

"They are gonna have to increase production of ammunition and weapons in Ukraine...Some of these things are already happening, but it is possible when you are at war to increase production, even with Russian missiles raining down on your cities. I mean, think about what Germany did in 1944. Aircraft production for the Luftwaffe peaked in 1944. That's after more than two years of steady bombing by the Royal Air Force and the US Army Air Corps bombing the hell out of German cities. But yet German aircraft production increased. So I think Ukraine can do that with some improving efficiency. Some Western companies are already there helping."

Luftwaffe aircraft production in 1944 in fact was achieved with slave labor, comprised of Jews, Gypsies and Soviet POWs. Operation Bagration, fought between June 22 and August 19, 1944 in Soviet Belarus, just over two weeks after the Normandy Invasion, the Red Army destroyed 28 of 34 divisions of the German Army Group Centre and completely shattered the German front line. It was the biggest defeat in German military history up to that point.
