YOYO is an American slang expression for "you're on your own". It is popular in the preparedness movement and among American military. It implies that during an emergency or threats, there is nobody who will take care of your family, or in the military case your fellow soldiers, then each other. Thus, it pays to "be prepared" in advance of the balloon going up, SHTF or TEOTWAWKI.

Be Prepared Since You're on Your Own

Conservatives don't live in the pollyanna unicorn fantasy utopia world of the Teacup Generation progressives with their unquestioning belief in gun free zones, ammunition control, gun control, Obamunism, ObamaCare, and Social security. Hence, we conservatives like to follow the pragmatic sage guidance of the Proverbs quote above and be prudent by doing our best to foresee danger and approaching tyranny in advance and take precautions. Whereas, the wishful thinking liberal entitlement mentality "simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences" by hoping that the Nanny state or the progressive police state will take care of their every need. Conservatives understand the importance of family and community, yet they know the military slang expression YOYO ("You are on your own"). When big government crease to provide essential services such as firefighting and police department protection, and when utilities no longer provide water, sanitation, electricity, and phone service -- then "YOYO".[1]
