Social Liberal Party is a Brazilian political party ideologically connected to the libertarian and objectivist right. It was founded with moderately liberal ideas, who argued that the federal government should spend on healthcare, education, security, energy and other basic industries, but that would total space for other sectors would be dominated by the private sector.

However, since 2015, taking advantage of the fact of the party being small and insignificant, the libertarian internal tendency LIVRES (in English: FREE) decided to make an ideological reformulation in the party, leading the party to a more right-wing liberalism, keeping the moderate social ideas, but turning the party fiscally conservative and advocate of limited government[1].

The party doesn't qualify as a right-wing party, as it believes that the term "right-wing" is closely associated to social conservatives, which the party opposes. However, recognizes economic freedom as a right-wing issue and says that in the eyes of a socialist or liberal, they're on the right. In the eyes of a conservative, they're on the left. Despite the ideological makeover, they continue defining themselves as "liberal socials", and say they advocate a libertarianism that focuses on society, not the individual, differing from traditional libertarian currents. And as the New Party, they also supports the permanence of certain social programs created by the ultra-left governments of PSDB and PT. Like the American Libertarian Party, PSL qualify themselves as fiscally conservative and socially liberal.

According to its official website, the party supports the American model of federalism[2].
