A spectre is haunting Conservapedia. The spectre of stubbornness, stupidity, and ignorance masquerading as conservativism. We live in a changing world. The change is brought about by passing on life from one generation to another, among other ways such as the changes that can occur in words and meaning in language. Some people believe that by being resistant to the social, political, and economic processes that occur as a result of these changes is the definition of "conservativism". They can seriously, and whole heartedly, believe that by burying their heads in the sand, raising ignorance and stubbornness to the level of virtues, as well as stupidity, they are being "right wing" or "conservative".
Examples
- Defining Machiavelli as immoral[1] while admiring[2] the works of school of realism Prof. John Joseph Mearsheimer.[3]
- Defining John Maynard Keynes as an incompetent pedophile and fraud[4] while admiring his contributions to expanding the national debt and deficit spending.[5]
- Citing neocon globalist huckster and investment advisor Peter Zeihan as an "expert" on US/Russia and China relations.[6]
- Claiming Vladimir Putin underestimated Ukrainian nationalism when Vladimir Putin said at the outset, as reported in all major Western mainstream media, that the purpose of the incursion was de-nazification.[7]
- Comparing vaccine mandates to seat belt laws.[8]
- Arguing that obesity somehow has something to do with the mask mandates and the covid bioweapon.[9]
- Considering Prof. Mearsheimer a "fairly objective Western commentator" while criticizing "Putin propaganda" in Conservapedia using exclusively the Soros-funded Vice News for reference.[10] Former NYT journalist Anne Applebaum accused Mearsheimer of actually writing Kremlin talking points.[11]
- Not being able to figure out that the higher price he pays at the gas pump[12] funds Russia's war effort.[13]
- Falling hook, line, and sinker for the CCP's "coronavirus came from people eating bats" narrative right out of the gate and broadcasting it to the world.[14][15]
- Claiming in a Mainspace article Chinese people eat sewage.[16]
- Narcissistic personality disorder.[17]
- While the news media and general public of planet Earth were concerned about the outbreak of World War III, the editor dedicated countless days and hours to toilets in rural Russia, even after Ukraine had lost the NATO war in Ukraine in a lame effort to refute an earlier intellectual gaffe about his expertise in the field of geopolitics.[18]
- A belief that a bunch of alcoholics with their fingers on the nuclear button somehow makes the world more safe.[19]
- That Oleg Deripaska, who colluded with Christopher Steele, James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Bruce Ohr, John Brennan, James Clapper, Susan Rice[20] and Robert Mueller[21] to manufacture the bogus Trump-Russia allegations is "Putin's favorite oligarch".[22]
When the common errors and misjudgments are pointed out to people who espouse such ill-considered research, some think that by stubbornly doubling down on stupidity and remaining ignorant, they are being true to their gut instincts and alleged "conservative values." Anyone can make mistakes. Ignorance works like compounded interest, and willful ignorance is shameful, if not potentially even deadly. It becomes particularly problematic when a person is filled with too much pride to engage in civil discussion, and becomes wholly consumed with vengeance for years on end after experiencing a personal slight. Neither are malice and duplicity conservative values. None of this is remotely conservative in nature.
The bible calls people who retreat into ignorance, stubbornness, and stupidity as a response to the challenges of the real world that they see around themselves each day, "stiffnecked". Be willing, and open to God's word. And you must humble yourself to do so.
Conservativism isn't just an intellectual pursuit. Conservativism belongs to those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.[23]
