John James “Jimmy” Duncan, Jr. (born July 21, 1947) is an American politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 2nd congressional district from 1988 to 2019. A lawyer, former judge, and former long serving member of the Army National Guard, he is a member of the Republican Party. Duncan is the son of John J. Duncan, Sr., who as the mayor of Knoxville brilliantly accomplished racial equality and desegregation while averting tensions.

Tenure

Duncan was in many ways Trump before Trump. Duncan voted against the Iraq war.[3] He had a 97% on Numbersusa, proving that he was tough on immigration. He also received high scores from the Heritage Foundation.[4]

During the 2016 presidential election, Duncan was among the staunch conservatives who enthusiastically endorsed the ultimately successful Donald Trump during the Republican primaries.[5] In turn, Trump stated:[6]

If more members voted like Rep. Duncan, we wouldn’t be wasting trillions of taxpayer dollars in foreign countries.
