For example, he claimed the [[Sandy Hook massacre]] was a hoax, he called it synthetic, completely fake with actors, and manufactured, during a 2014 broadcast. Jones also produced two videos claiming the shooting was a "false flag" and a "fraud" and hosted Sandy Hook denying articles on his [[Infowars]] website. Jones has seen a massive backlash to his broadcasts resulting in being kicked off [[Facebook]] and [[YouTube]]. Bereaved families have been subjected to online abuse and death threats from "activists" claiming the families were actors in a government [[false flag]] operation.<ref>https://www.inquisitr.com/5030612/alex-jones-said-hes-victim-of-sandy-hook-parents/</ref> In response, the town committee stated that they were considering a written appeal to [[President Trump]] asking him to speak out against the conspiracy theorists<ref>[https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-39194035#AlexJones Sandy Hook to Trump: 'Help us stop conspiracy theorists']. Because of the harassment and death threats from Jones’ followers as a result of his outlandish claims, the families of the massacre filed suit against Jones in 2018. On November 15, 2021, a Connecticut Judge ruled that Jones was guilty by default after he refused to hand over evidence ordered by the courts. <ref>https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlieporterfield/2021/11/15/conspiracy-theorist-alex-jones-loses-last-defamation-lawsuit-from-sandy-hook-parents/?sh=509f55031494</ref><ref>https://www.npr.org/2021/11/15/1055864452/alex-jones-found-liable-for-defamation-in-sandy-hook-hoax-case</ref>
