Nicholas Joseph “Nick” Fuentes is an American paleoconservative political commentator, internet personality, radio show host, and live-streamer. Fuentes currently hosts the episodic livestream series America First with Nicholas J. Fuentes on Cozy.tv, which he began in 2017. and previously co-hosted the Nationalist Review podcast with James Allsup (not to be confused with National Review). He has run the AFPAC, or the America First Political Action Conference, annually since 2020. He is the founder and head of the Groyper Movement, which advocates for traditionalism, populism, and nationalism, and against the anti-white agenda, immigration, the Establishment, and Conservative Inc.

Fuentes is one-quarter Mexican, hence his Hispanic surname; Fuentes, however, identifies predominantly with his Italian heritage.[1] Fuentes is also 2% African, and refers to himself "Afro-Latino".

Education & Early Career

Fuentes graduated from Lyons Township High School, and was president of the school's student council.

On August 12, 2017, he flew from Chicago to Virginia to attend the Second Day of the infamous Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville, to protest the removal of the Robert E. Lee Statue. Fuentes claimed that the majority of protesters in attendance were not KKK members, nor were they Neo-Nazis. Up until then, Fuentes had been attending Boston University, but left after receiving several death threats, and declared that he wished to move to Auburn University. He applied for transfer admission to Auburn University in fall of 2017, but he did not confirm his enrollment on time.[2]

Previously, Fuentes worked as a host on the Right Side Broadcasting Network; however, he was abruptly fired after making a statement on his show that the First Amendment is only meant for American citizens, not immigrants and foreigners, and that mainstream media networks, such as CNN, should be held responsible for making people believe it was universal.

Political views

Fuentes is a devout Catholic and self-described paleoconservative, as well as a self-described member of the "dissident right". He is an anti-establishment populist, and criticizes both the left and the right. He is described by Wikipedia and the ADL as a "white nationalist" and "white supremacist". He rejects these labels, and has publicly disavowed the Alt-Right, as well as having feuded with Biden operative Richard Spencer.

On his show, Fuentes frequently discusses American and European demographics and immigration, and cultural events. Fuentes takes a hard stance against immigration, and criticizes what he describes as "Israel First" foreign policy. Fuentes is pro-Second Amendment, and in a video debating another content creator, known as 'Atheism is Unstoppable', over the right to bear arms, he defends the Bill of Rights. He is an America First nationalist, and supports President Trump, voting for him in both the 2016 election and the 2020 election, and advocated for the overturning of the fraudulent Biden win; However, he is also not afraid to criticize Trump, mainly for his rhetoric on the Covid vaccine and foreign relations with Israel.

He is a strong social conservative, motivated by his Catholic faith, and uses "Christ is King" as one of his many catchphrases.

Controversy

Fuentes is often wrongly accused of bigotry and anti-semitism, mainly for his anti-Zionist views and edgy sense of humor; Jewish conservative Laura Loomer has come to his defense, saying he has treated her better as a Jewish woman than big "conservative" organizations like Turning Point USA.

On August 7, 2019, Fuentes got into a feud with Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire on Twitter, over comments Walsh had made about a mass shooting by a suspected White Supremacist, in which Walsh says that "white racist scumbags should be executed". Fuentes called Walsh a "Race Traitor" and a "Shabbos Goy".

On September 28th, 2019, Fuentes appeared in a group photo with Kathy Zhu, Ashley St. Clair, and Baked Alaska, and others. Ashley St. Clair was fired from her position at Turning Point USA for appearing in the photo. This sparked outrage on Twitter from Zhu and Fuentes, with Fuentes stating on Twitter,

Censorship and deplatforming

Fuentes is a major victim of liberal censorship, and has been banned from just about every mainstream social media platform imaginable, as well as PayPal and Spotify, not to mention being kicked out and banned from the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC. He was also placed on the federal No-Fly list in spring of 2021.

In July of 2021, Fuentes was banned from Twitter. This sparked backlash from many conservatives on social media, including mainstream conservatives, who took his side despite previously condemning him. This includes Ben Shapiro, whom Fuentes had previously feuded with, and in 2019, tried to confront outside of a Turning Point USA conference in Florida over a 45-minute speech Shapiro had given about him[3]. Fuentes received criticism for the confrontation, as Shapiro was with his family. Shapiro used his statement on Fuentes' ban to simultaneously attack Fuentes' views and defend his right to a public platform.

In December 2021, Alt-tech site Gettr banned Fuentes, as well as the use of the term "Groyper" in posts. Fuentes responded, “What is the point of a free-speech alternative to Twitter...that doesn’t even honor free speech?” [4][5]

In January 2022, the Pelosi Panel subpoenaed him along with Patrick Casey in an attempt to get him to testify before Congress.[6] Fuentes denied to testify unless it was televised.
