Nicola Sturgeon/Jimmy Crankie image request

Hi, could you upload this image of outgoing disgraced Scottish socialist First Minister Nicola Sturgeon compared side by side with comedy character Jimmy Crankie? The purpose of the image is to acompany text to that nature in the Nicola Sturgeon article.

Image is here:

https://metro.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/ad_165828585.jpg?quality=90&strip=all

Its an article used in the Metro, from Getty, so you should have no licencing concerns.

Thanks in advance --Joeylad (talk) 16:59, February 15, 2023 (EST)

Humza Yousaf

Hi, can you please upload the picture of Humza Yousaf, the new Scottish First Minister, from the following article. The image originates from Twitter, so I doubt there'd be any issues around licensing.

If possible, try and crop the image to focus on just Yousaf himself.

Here is the article: https://tribune.com.pk/story/1103256/muslim-politician-in-scotland-makes-oath-of-allegiance-in-urdu

--Joeylad (talk) 09:39, March 28, 2023 (EDT)

How's this? I left the kilt in which makes it oblong. It can be redone, no problem. If you want Sturgeon in the picture, or more of a square with just his head, let me know. RobS^{Give Peace a chance} 10:30, March 28, 2023 (EDT)

Thanks, that should do. --Joeylad (talk) 11:17, March 28, 2023 (EDT)

Upload request

I have an upload request for Everett Dirksen's page. It is from Time Magazine and I think that it would make an interesting addition to his page if uploaded. I happened to fall upon it when researching on the internet for him and I think that it could be added to the section about his work towards advancing civil rights, as the magazine cover shows him on the front and talks about how he helped to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Here it is.[1][2] -Mr. Nationalist (talk) 02:49, May 11, 2023 (EDT)

Queen Esther of Persia

Is there sufficient free use permission to upload this? The bottom of the website states: "© 2024 Ministry-To-Children.com by Tony Kummer. All rights reserved. But you have full permission to freely re-share and adapt this content under [CC BY-SA 4.0]. This means giving source credit and sharing any derivative works in the same way. 📖 Freely ye have received, freely give." Now, this Google Drive compilation appears to state not to use the pictures, so it may be a bit ambiguous.

Just about every "classic" painting of Esther is historically/culturally inaccurate, portraying her through a European lens. This set of illustrations I found is probably the most accurate compilation which depicts the Medo-Persian time frame/setting with amazing precision. —LT ^{Rev. 22:13} Monday, 15:38, July 29, 2024 (ED)

They're all for use at articles about the subject.

Rachel Reeves

Hi, I got 2 images of the UK left-wing Labour party chancellor Rachel Reeves from X that I'd like uploading if you could:

First, this one: https://twitter.com/RachelA1892/status/1849457460244881621/photo/1

Then there is this, showing that Reeves replaced an image of the Thatcherite chancellor Nigel Lawson with one of the Marxist-Leninist activist Ellen Wilkinson: https://twitter.com/ArchRose90/status/1851341524229103617/photo/1

Lancashire (UK) map

Yesterday was Lancashire Day (my home county) and I thought it'd be worth celebrating by giving the article on Lancashire a map of the county and its ancient subdivisions known as Hundreds. The map is from X/Twitter. Thanks in advance

https://x.com/FORLancashire/status/1331618338942889986

And, if you can, this one from FB, showing the difference between the real county Lancashire and the similarly-named councils, which Wikipedia refuses to acknowledge. Thanks!

+I have an upload request for Everett Dirksen's page. It is from Time Magazine and I think that it would make an interesting addition to his page if uploaded. -This logo of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (specifically, the logo of CBC Television) to use for its article here. Northwest (talk) 03:10, 13 October 2016 (EDT)<br />
-Be carefull, there are copyright and trademark concerns with official logos, and you must have a fair use rationale for each use of the image. Thanks, JDano (talk) 07:16, 13 October 2016 (EDT)<br />
-:Agreed, that's a bit questionable and a little risky.  We could just do like Wikipedia, and claim it is in the Public Domain, but it is a registered trademark and they certainly claim copyright on it.  In the court of law, perhaps Wikipedia could win, but I doubt it.  We could also claim "Fair Use" but this is a poorly defined clause, and could be legally challenged as well.  WP gets away with it, but there are a lot of people who want CP gone, so the liberal double standard may apply here. This isn't my site, so I'm probably not the one who might end up in legal quagmire over it if I did the upload, but I'd rather not risk making a mess for someone else to clean up.  If an admin feels differently, though, that's fine with me. --<font color="ForestGreen">David B</font> <small>(TALK)</small> 13:04, 13 October 2016 (EDT)

-Is it OK to upload book covers or movie posters to CP? --1990&#39;sguy (talk) 10:11, 5 January 2017 (EST)
-:Probably the same copyright rules apply to these.  Fair use may be an arguable point, since the covers/posters are meant to promote the content, so if anything it would help them for us to use it.  However, you will often find inside the cover of a book that the cover art is copyrighted by xyz person, so that should to be respected.  Probably only cover art in the public domain should be used, which can be tricky to even recognize since even if the book is, the cover have have been redesigned.  It would be great if they could be used under fair use, but I'd want an admin's approval for that beforehand. --<font color="ForestGreen">David B</font> <small>(TALK)</small> 10:45, 5 January 2017 (EST)
-::Cover art is rarely public domain.  Even the photo of the author is virtually always copyrighted as a part of the book.  Movie posters are protected by copyright as well, but you can contact the movie studio for permission.
