Vernon Gale “Vern” Buchanan (born May 8, 1951) is the United States Representative for the 16th congressional district of Florida. He is a member of the Republican Party, having been first elected to the position in 2006 to represent the state's 13th congressional district.
In late July 2020, Rep. Buchanan joined seventy-one moderate and normally conservative Republicans in voting to remove Civil War-era statues.[1] In 2021, he supported "gun control" measures in congress.[2]
In November 2023, Representative Buchanan joined sixty-nine other Republicans to vote to establish a new $300 million building to house the FBI, despite reservations raised by conservatives about the fairness of the agency.[3]
